One of my favorite splurges is a top notch mani-pedi at Polished Lounge. It's tres shabby chic and they have yummy smelling balls for your foot water (don't eat them). However, it's expensive! Though I spent my first afternoon of job-freedom in a cozy chair being exfoliated, I decided that from now on I will be doing my fingers and toes at home. Though, I had to stock up on some necessities in order to accurately replicate the experience.
- Good paint: I am obsessed with the Sephora/O.P.I. colors. They're $9 but you can invest in a signature color and I don't know about you, but I love using the whole bottle of something. Try and use a whole bottle of polish before it turns into colored cottage cheese.
- A masseuse: If you don't have a significant other who is impressed by how clean you are keeping the house since you don't have a job, go to a cheap happy hour and pick up a hot person to rub your feet. I don't recommend craigslist, kinda creepy, ya know?
- Hot towels: Stick em in a pot of really hot water with a few drops of lavender oil. Not too hot. You can also microwave lotion for 15 seconds.
- Don't forget top coats. I think that's what makes it loooook professional.
I know it's not the same, but it's winter so if all else fails, keep your boots on. And if nothing else, if you do it at home, you won't be sad when that $20 mani chips three days after you got it.
