I am newly job-free and I heard on the news that some others are in the same boat...something about a recession? Weird. In my case, I had some notice of my impending professional doom so I spent an evening making a list of everything I have been putting off, the details of my life I had been ignoring, my hobbies which had been swept aside and of some activities that might help regulate my worldly karma since I had spent the last 5 years with professional tunnel vision. This list gave me hope so on my first day of freedom, I was armed.
In this space I will share some of my ideas, crafty ways to fill all of this new free time. It's in no way meant to be a testimonial of all of the amazing things I am doing for the world, but an outline for things that may help to keep those feelings of uselessness at bay. Your job never defined you, you are as talented and smart as you were before you lost your job and there are TONS of us out there in the same boat. Besides, all of your friends who have jobs are jealous of your new life. You can make your free time chic.
